Literacy Plans and Reading Proficiency Data – Submission Date CORRECTION
Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.12, requires all public schools, including charter schools, to create and post
a local literacy plan by the end of the 2011-12 school year. The statute also requires all public schools to submit reading proficiency data for all Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students to MDE by July 1 (not June 1 as stated in the April 19 mailing).
To support this work, MDE is offering a series of information sessions and a webpage of tools and resources that may be helpful as schools develop literacy plans consistent with this new legislation. For more information, visit Reading Well by 3rd Grade (http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/EdExc/ReadWell/index.html), or contact Kari Ross, MDE Reading Specialist, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
