Title I Committee of Practitioners Membership Application for 2013-14
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is seeking applications from educators, parents, members of local school boards, nonpublic school representatives, pupil services personnel and community members to serve on the 2013-2014 Title I Committee of Practitioners (COP).
The COP provides MDE ongoing recommendations on a variety of issues related Title I programs. The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 2001, section 1903, requires each state that receives Title I funds to ensure that any state rules, regulations, and policies relating to Title I conform to the purposes of Title I, and provide any such proposed rules, regulations, and policies to the Title I COP for review and comment.

U.S. Senate Youth Applications Due Oct. 24
Minnesota 11th- or 12th-grade students who hold an elected office in student government or civic or community organization during the 2014-15 school year are eligible to apply for the U.S. Senate Youth Program. Established in 1962, the program offers a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing careers in public service. Two selected student leaders from each state, District of Columbia and the Dept. of Defense Education Activity will spend a week in Washington, March 7-14, 2015, experiencing their national government in action.
