Third Party Billing
The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Minnesota statutes require all school districts to seek payments from third parties when the cost of assessments and related services are covered by a student’s public or private health plan. To accomplish this mandate, districts must integrate complex health plan requirements with the intricate details of IDEA.
Forms districts may use to obtain consent for third party reimbursement are available below in Hmong, Russian, Somali and Vietnamese in either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF formats. Additional third party billing resources are available under MDE and offsite resources, including Part B Procedural Safeguards Notices from the Recommended Due Process Forms page.
