Race to the Top - Local Early Childhood Software System Upgrade Grant
To assist school districts and/or Head Start programs in coordinating efforts related to the selection and implementation of software that enhances or upgrades current systems in place to meet and improve the data collection of early childhood information, and ensure that applicable staff is trained and assistance is provided to them throughout the grant period. These efforts are to improve local efficiencies as they transition towards reporting private protected early childhood child level data to MDE for improved understanding of children’s experiences prior to kindergarten in publicly funded settings.

Meet the 2015 Science Mathematics Principal
John Garcia, principal of Cedar Park Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) School in Apple Valley, has been named the 2015 Science and Mathematics Elementary and Middle Level Principal of the Year. Created through a partnership between the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minnesota Elementary School Principals’ Association (MESPA), the award recognizes the importance of fostering lifelong science literacy and the key role principals play in developing a culture that encourages student interest in math and science.
