Verification of Minnesota Teaching License

License Verification or “Letters of Good Standing”

Immediate official verification for state officials of your educator license is available from the Minnesota Department of Education online website at the Teacher License Lookup site. It will be faster for the state to look up your license at this official site, or for you to print out a copy and submit that when requested.

If you need a “Letter of Good Standing” regarding conduct or verification through another format (i.e., a form or statement), you can email Nancy Farvour at nancy.farvour@state.mn.us or mail the required form or request in writing (with your licensure File Folder Number included) to:

Minnesota Department of Education

Attention: Educator Licensing, Nancy Farvour

1500 Highway 36 West

Roseville, MN 55113

Please be aware that Educator Licensing is not able to provide verification of any information for teacher exams (i.e., scores, passing information, dates completed, etc.) since we do not retain this information.

Speech-Language Pathologists and School Psychologists

If you need a verification of licensure, have a form to be completed, or a “Letter of Good Standing” regarding conduct you can email Sue Koehler at sue.koehler@state.mn.us or mail the required form or request in writing (with your licensure File Folder Number included) to:

Minnesota Department of Education

Attention: Educator Licensing, Sue Koehler

1500 Highway 36 West

Roseville, MN 55113

Verification forms and letters are completed and mailed monthly; allow for sufficient time to process and complete your request. Also, we cannot provide verification if your license is in process, and has not yet been issued.

If you need to check on the progress of the form/letter or have additional information to add to your request, please email Sue Koehler at the above email.

Verification of “Highly Qualified” Status

“Highly Qualified” status in Minnesota is determined by the employing school district or charter school. If you cannot have your school district or charter school verify this information, have not worked in Minnesota, or are required to have a licensing agency provide this proof you can email Kat Anthony-Wigle at katherine.anthony-wigle@state.mn.us or mail the required form or request in writing (with your licensure File Folder Number included) to:

Minnesota Department of Education

Attention: Educator Licensing, Kat Anthony-Wigle

1500 Highway 36 West

Roseville, MN 55113

Although the Department of Education cannot verify the “Highly Qualified” status of a licensed teacher, a letter will be sent with a link to the “Minnesota State Plan for Highly Qualified Requirements 2012” and the same information a Minnesota district or charter school would receive regarding making the determination of “Highly Qualified” status.

Forms and letters are completed and mailed monthly; allow for sufficient time to process and complete your request. If you need to check on the progress of the form/letter or have additional information to add to your request, please email Kat Anthony-Wigle at the above email.
