Re: Training and Implementation Support for Minnesota State Teacher Development and Evaluation Model

Districts that have not reached joint agreement on a local teacher development and evaluation plan must implement the state model in school year 2014-2015. Charter schools that do not have a local teacher development and evaluation plan must implement the state model in school year 2014-2015.

Contact Tyler Livingston at tyler.livingston@state.mn.us or 651-582-8427 if

• You are using the state model as a default plan because you will not have joint agreement with teachers prior to school year 2014-2015 (school districts)
• You are using the state model as a default plan because you have not developed a local plan (charter schools), or
• You are using a local plan that is based on the state model in its entirety or is a close variation of the state model.

We are requesting this information so that we can plan training and implementation support for districts and charters using the state model. We will work throughout the summer to schedule trainings, align the work to local initiatives, and prepare leadership teams.

Our district support plan includes

1. Technical assistance and planning support (summer 2014)
2. Initial training for summative evaluators, lead peer reviewers, and lead teachers (summer/fall 2014)
3. Coaching and initial implementation support throughout school year (school year 2014-2015)
4. Follow-up training for summative evaluators (spring 2015)
5. Continuing implementation technical assistance and training (school year 2015-2016)

MDE will be requesting a letter of assurance from all districts and charters in September 2014 regarding teacher and principal evaluation. That request and process will be communicated separately.

If you have questions about this communication or teacher development and evaluation, contact Tyler Livingston at tyler.livingston@state.mn.us or 651-582-8427.
