District

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) develops two reports on student enrollment at the district level for each year: one by grade, ethnicity and gender and the second by special populations (limited English proficiency/English language learners, special education students and students receiving free or reduced price meals). The Enrollment-District--Special Populations file includes columns for total student enrollment K-12 and PreK-12.

NOTE: The Content Archive on the left contains data files for previous years. Enrollment data for the years 1977-1978 through 1987-1988 are available by district by grade only.  The data exists only in hardcopy reports, which have been scanned and presented in the archive as PDF files.  These data are not available in any other format.

Data by special population is not available for years prior to 1997-1998.

A description file is also provided containing a definition of each data element and notes on origin and use of the data.
